Coolant hose - I don't think I put oil?

Anyway, it only started and ran again a week ago :) I've just dated it in sections from where I updated it on my usual forum.

Pics to come, the car looks pretty amazing after a comprehensive cut and polish.... as far as 40 year old paint goes.

Sorry, I misread old => oil.

Look forward to these other pics

The hose was the one that reduces from the T piece on the RHS side of the block, to the hardline that runs around the back of the head. Sorted now though, found a racing blue one!

Everything turned out superb, the car travelled 978 miles across the course of the Nats weekend, that's 1573 of your metric kilometres, without a hiccup. Some minor leaking from the thermostat housing but nothing to be overly concerned about. The clearances need doing again, I guess they've now accustomed themselves to their new seats so a final adjustment and they ought to be a little quieter.

Here's how the car looked at Nats - big thankyou to Alistair for his detailing services, helping the old oxidised paint look fresh again! Super happy with the appearance for now.

So where to next? Grasskhana has convinced me I need a manual conversion, and discussion with tenfive about the conversion hasn't done any favours... so keen infact that one day after Nats I have a 5 speed sorted out.

So I bought a rusty one, and stripped it for parts... 14hr road trip!

Otherwise I've been using mine every weekend... including use as wedding transport for a fellow local old car enthusiast yesterday.

Thought it would be rude not to snap a couple of pics of it wearing it's wedding trimmings.

Saw this on OldSchool. Sad to see them wrecked but it's still a better home than many other options.

God your car is sexy!

It was a lot rustier than it looked. Hadn't been on the road for over 10 years. Sills, pillars, bootlid around the tail lights and beneath the rear bumper were all rotten. Even the bonnet had rust in it, although I kept it because it's so straight otherwise.

Minor photo free update... this is now rocking a 280Z 5 speed manual. What a transformation! Pics to follow...

Also, I have a couple of things on my wishlist I'd like to buy/can't find locally.

One is the "wood" insert from a floor change center console, I only need the section forward of the shifter to experiment with cutting up to install a period aftermarket tacho similar to the Crowns of the era.

Alternatively, if anyone has a factory 230 tacho available from a coupe or Japanese market hardtop/sedan then I would pay handsomely to get my mitts on a working example. Let me know please!

Let me know :D

Awesome. Manuals rock!

I will keep my eyes peeled for that console insert.

So, I've gone and popped a 5 speed 280ZX gearbox into this car, and it's an absolute joy to drive. Not like it wasn't before, but it's just a bit quicker off the mark, sounds different and also gets markedly better economy on the open road! I'll call it a win... anyway, here's some shots of it being a 5 speed that I wandered down and took this evening, as well as a pic of the new steering wheel (Mooneyes California metalflake) to tie in with the whole Mooneyes Japan look I'm striving for.
