So, things that have happened.

Some tail lights arrived from Japan, I've always disliked how the export models got the indicator lenses on the outer of the 3 segments, and when the tail lamps are lit the car appears narrower. So acquired these.

Then I took it all apart and fitted them. Sorry about the grotty bootlid it's on the list of things to do.

Then, I used it to tow my other project car to the paint shop for some remedial work. Yeah the area I live in is a bit crappy.

Following that, another package from the motherland appeared with these. Since then I've also acquired some mint GX emblems for sides and boot. Anyway, since my car is a Japanese assembled example I think it kind of justifies adding these, I've never been a fan of "faking it" but in essence my car is 2600GX spec aside from the elusive factory tacho... but we'll keep looking.

And finally, I have pieced together a set of 5 stud Work Equip 01's. I purchased a local set with staggered 14x6 and 14x7, the 7's have a lovely cone dish in them but the 6's were flat. I sold the 6's and purchased a pair of 14x6.5" 01's with a matching cone dish, and restoration on these has now begun! In Japan I have a set of August Feroce and a set of SSR F5 (or Star 5 depending on what brochure you read) waiting to be shipped across.

Thanks for looking... heading out to try some light painting photography with this as a subject, so I'll pop some results up!

Sorry for repetitiveness. Anyway today was a bit on the stressful side, so I went out and took some pics to clear my head.

And a first up attempt at light painting. Not perfect but I'll get it nailed if I keep at it.

I have actually fitted the car with some new wheels, as below:

No posery shots of them yet, as we're in the midst of a 5000km odd road trip around the South Island, but here's a shot from a friend of us attacking the Takaka Hill road just out of Nelson.

Anyway, things are getting clunky and generally worn out up front. I understand the 230 upper and lower balljoints are NLA, so people use 330/720 ute stuff, correct? If anyone has any part numbers I would be most apprciative, as parts suppliers here are typically unhelpful when it comes to parts that aren't strictly for a given chassis. I'd also like to do the tie rod ends if possible, any ideas if these are still available, or if I'll need to rebuild them...

Mucho gracias!

Ebay AU is full of all this stuff but the 330 ball joints are not a straight forward fit. Hezath is your friend, he can explain to you, in detail, what's required.

Have I ever told you I love your car?

FR5's, nice!!! Did the Equip 01s ever make it on?

I'm certainly your friend, but I'm not sure that I can explain in detail what is required hahaha. fletch is quite an experienced trades person and did at one point offer reaming of stub axles to accomodate the 330 Ball Joints, FWIW - mine were all good and I have not had to replace them.

The Equips are still in the resto stage awaiting a final polish now but they will end up on the car at some stage, no worries!

I have been in contact with fletch so we'll see what can be done about it, all I really want to know is whether or not I need 330 uppers AND lowers.

In other news, today I found this. Naturally, I bought it. I haven't even tried to shift it yet, but hey it has the tacho I have been looking for, for an age, the console mount clock, spare powersteer parts, blue tinted screen and heaps of other useful bits. Interior is in respectable condition beneath all the muck. Parked up in the late 1980's and never moved again.

Word is, the car was a special order import for the MD of Williams and Adams, who held the Datsun dealership of it's day in Wellington. NZ new and a horrifically rare car here, but well past the point of economic salvage.

Electrical aerial may still be salvageable for you as well?

Brendan from over in Aus may be interested in some bits too.
