This fender is a reproduction, it has some minor details, but as soon as I can find an original one I´ll swap it.

The car is almost ready to be painted, the color will be silver, I wanted white but my wife insisted and couldn't say no....

Looks like some tricky bodywork getting the panels to line up etc. Silver seems to be the colour of choice (I would have preferred my car a different colour but don't want to lose the patina), couldn't interest you in a green?

What wheels is this thing going to have Camilo?

P.S. Loving the progress, gahhh i need to get better at doing bodywork like this. Looking forward to summer. I wonder if that green colour is the same as brendans car was originally. Oh and im pretty sure brendan and i picked up a pair of rear armrests for you, there where in ok-ish condition

Hi Heath!, you are right, for what I saw the trickiest part was lining up the panels. That green is gorgeous, I have been searching in the brochures and old pics for the interior/exterior color options, and it seems to be that the green exterior was matched with a white interior, and my car's interior is black.... I don´t want to be so strict with the resto but I think this is important.

The wheels.... good question. I don't really know. I don´t wanna use some american wheels, but finding retro japanese wheels or reproductions (Rota, Konig) here is really hard even more with five bolt pattern. I 'm gonna have to import them from USA and this is expensive. I want Hayashi street or Rota Shakotan, but the first ones are very expensive and I have not seen the latter in 5 bolts pattern. The other options I have in mind are Enkei 92 and Rota RB. But, once again, I'm gonna have to import them.... the only option easy to find here are BBS mesh...

That could be Brendan's car original color.... Thanks a lot for the armrests Ryan, who have them? I found some 240Z armrests, they look similar but are longer...

Want the colour code of a nice clean silver? Lol anywho, getting the gaps right does take a bit of time and effort (more so when you have replaced panels of the body like you have!!!!). there was one gap on my car that i just couldnt get right (and still havent), even with shimming the door hinge (dodgey lol) I stripped and repaired all the panels on my car and to get the bodyline down the side right I used masking tape and blocking up against the line from the top, removing the tape and placing it on the bottom of the line and blocking down, when the car was in primer. also longboarded the car and reprimed. In spots my car has plenty of skims of body filler but you would never know it, you are lucky you got new panels!

looking good mate keep it up. hope to see it painted soon

ps. the colour code is mercedes DB775 iridium silver
pss. I always wanted to see what a coupe would be like in that colour :giggle:

greatwork camilo you get alot of satisfaction doing it right! i'm doing it myself and love every bit of time i get to work on my coupe. dont stress about the coupe in qld. you seem to have a much better canvas to work with! i'm in qld a concidered this vehicle when it was advertised previously but really to far gone in my opinion.

Gorgeous wheels!!

But the truth is that due to the shipping prices, Japan and Australia are my last options to import wheels from, that is why I'm looking for some Enkei 92 in USA.
