Don't go out to the garage tonight, no good will come of it. An ill wind is blowing. I was stirred from my slumber by a crow calling three times. Caw, caw... Well you know what a crow sounds like. Passing to my window, I trod on a piece of Lego; ow it went right in my heel. Turning on my television set I noticed the reception wasn't great, not terrible, just not great. Hear me well; no good can come of your trip to the garage tonight. No good at all.

Stone guards: possibly a dealer option. Keeping it then?

It was a weird night my cat would not stop meowing no matter how much i yeld at it. The only thing that would shut it up was lock it outside the house. I presume it shut up i couldnt hear it.

Stone guards are cool no idea about them been a factory item. I think Hezath might be the man to ask though or some of the other cedric guys.

Id say your stone guards are a aftermarket or dealer option, they are more of a aussie tradition, along with those mesh windscreen protectors and "roo" bars you see old kingswoods getting around with....

Nice find by the way........

I would guess the stone guards are a dealer option, I haven't seen them as a factory option before but I'm not that clued up on them

You'll have fun getting around the steering gear with the driver's side bank's exhaust manifold. If you can sort that out, a Clevo or similar would be a great motor for a H230.

2.77:1 LSD? Assuming that isn't a Datsun unit.

hay Hezath the diff from a 1900 jonior is heavy caliber isnt it ? they can carry like 2500 kgs or somthing,do u think it could fit,iv got a ute,but thing is it is carrying no rust so do u think it would be a waste using it in the 240c,i keep hearing RB30 and a turbo any thoughts, some more interesting info,i was talking with a fella today who claims to have an emaliclute 260c hard top with the power steering and he said he had the same thought of a v8 and found it wouldnt fit cause if the size of the power steer box, what are ur thoughts,do u know if non power steer has the room to take it

My car doesn't have power steering, I imagine it doesn't make that much difference. The best way to install a V8 would be to do a steering rack conversion. It all gets pretty involved pretty quickly but nothing's impossible, and it has probably been done before but there may be a language barrier haha.

Not sure what you're asking about the diff?

you could fit a hilux diff. they come in a million different ratios and lsd
im going to fit one to my 130 when it stops raining and i can go pick it up.
My current H190 is 1450mm wide drum to drum. a mid to late 80s 2wd hilux has a 1410mm wide diff. That will allow me to run some rims with a little bit more dish.
the leaf spring platforms are maybe 20mm off from memory. I plan to just make them wider to the datsun leaf spring width and make a new hole.
pretty sure the 230 has the same width diff.

You could keep the stock diff. they are strong. the lowest ratio you can get is 3.9:1 but you can go right up to about 5:1 and alloy centre from a van.

OR, you can fit a borg warner diff. they came out in most of the pre vt holdens, r31 skyline, falcons. r31 skyline wagon is the correct width, but is only 4 stud. they hae the 28 spline axles. dont get the r31 pintara diff as its only 25 spine. the falcon lsds are 28 spline. you would have to get some falcon axles shortened and resplined to give you the correct stud pattern. i have heard vl commy is 1450mm wide also, but i dont know how true that is

as for fitting any v8, you will need to convert to steering rack. there are a few ways to do it, but its very hard to do properley to avoid bump steer and get engineered.

the best option i think is rb30. cheapest way to do it is to get a r31 and use all the running gear.
its nearly a bolt in! i helped a mate do a rb30det and it was a piece of piss. very little modding was required.

ill be taking photos of my diff install which ill post here when im done
