I have had to deal with similar rust in the boot of mine, not as widespread though.
That rust near the leaf spring mount is severe, I admire your fortitude :)

Yeah that is fairly messy. I understand the hesitancy.

You guys use salt on the road?

Yep, they do salt the roads, back in the 80's and before the salt was even more stronger than they use nowadays. I live 150 miles down south of arctic circle... lol. Still, these cars are rare and this one shall not be let to rust no more.

Great project - awesome job to keep at it. Let me know if you need any parts as ive wrecked out a few of these - as long as your willing to ship from New Zealand.

I brought a guard and bootlid off ebay for one of my cars, from Denmark and the freight was not as bad as i thought to New Zealand.

If not we will be here watching for moral support lol.

Sold my 220c rustbucket last summer, it went to a guy who is a master welder and Datto man. Well i still have some sort of Cedric-mania because i just bought a 280C 430 from a old geezer, who is the 2:nd owner. He has had it for 20+ years and i got all the receipts etc from that time. It has LD28 diesel straight six, very spirited engine despite it has less than 100 hp's. Being old Taxi, it has 490.000kms at the odo :D And it still purrs like a kitten.

It came with horde of spares but i still need some minor things, like new rear fender "Datsun" emblems, some dashboard parts and right coloured center console. Interior is gray.

Biggest work in this is the underside. It is covered totally with 2cm layer of tar-like undercoat. I've found some rust beneath in the frame bars but nothing that is impossible. Also side skirts have lost all paint, luckily steel underneath it is mostly intact. I dont have any sand blaster equipment so i have to remove all that by hand...
