Gone and done it and bought a 260C from Victoria without actually seeing it in person :(
It's been hard in WA looking for a project Datsun when everything seems to be in the east.
Anyway expecting the worst but hoping for the best.
Previous 93 YO owner swore the car had only done 7,000kms so we shall see.
Interior looks pretty good so who knows?
At least it's complete so I'll work with what I get.

Anyone advise where to get those huge period style wheels from I see on Cedrics when looking on line?

That looks like a bloody solid car from those photos!

The big wide period correct wheels that you're talking about are best bought on Yahoo Japan, or through Australian importers such as Otomoto/Import Monster etc. Most of the stuff which is brought into Australia is 4-stud, but plenty of delicious 5-stud JDM wheels exist - you may just need to bring them in yourself.

What are the main plans?

Main plan is to bring it back to as good as I can make it.
Bare metal respray and lowered slightly with big wheels
Nothing that can't be reversed back to stock

Can anyone advise what size wheels a 260C will take without body mods or stretched tyres?
Looking for deep dish old style if possible

In my heavily biased opinion you absolute cannot beat Jap 14"s or 15"s with stretches tyres on a car like this, but if you don't like that image my recommendation would be just go for some classic American-style 5-spokes like Torq-Thrusts, Cragar S/S's Rallye wheels etc. in 15" with as aggressive an offset as possible. Take some cues from Mooneyes Japan.

Car arrived today
Seems pretty tidy but there are a couple of rust issues as would be expected with a car of this age.
Both sills will need to be replaced , repairs to doors and the windows will need to come out.
Oh well while I'm at it I may as well strip the thing right back and try to do it properly.
Wish me luck

Anyone advise where I can source window rubbers from as the ones along the side windows are rock hard.
It's all there and the engine seems to run sweetly for a car that's been in storage for so long.

Hey, looks neat and tidy and sounds like its in pretty good nick.
Not sure but you might find your window rubbers here.

What's the plan from here, 300hp L series low rider? :D
Good luck with the build.

Thanks Coz22a , will check them and Scotts Old Rubber out.
Started looking at the car today.
Initially the rust looked really bad but as I stripped things it wasn't that bad. The outer sills are shagged but the inner box section looks good and the underneath of the car looks like new. Has the car only done 7,700 kms as claimed?...don't know for sure but other than the rust it is very very tidy so maybe it could be 107,000 or less.

My son in law has talked me into removing the engine and strip the enginebay so a colourchange could be on the cards as I'm not a great fan of grey. Any suggestions and pics would be most welcome.

The car will be lowered but nothing crazy.
I've had a struggle finding old school wheels in 5 stud so may try something more modern in 18's with big dish.
If it doesn't look right its
Easily changed anyway

A few ugly areas but these cars are generally fairly good - not much hidden stuff.

If you are on Facebook, follow RA64FREDDY, shirtstuckedin, WasabiCars, SpeedHunters, Cruise Focus etc. and you may find some inspiration. You are working with the most common stud pattern in the world, there are plenty of options.

Going to keep the L-Series? You can pick up a 5spd very easily for these cars too.

Definitely staying L6 and auto as this car is just my cruiser.
If I want to go fast I'll take my My Senator or the Missus Audi S3 :-)
