Yes James May has left behind the slow, Yellow, manual, 200B (because apparently he keeps blowing up L20B's), so has upgraded to an even slower...

260Z 2+2 AUTO!

The luxurious 260Z will be fantasticly slow enough, for the very slow (Captain Slow) James May.
(Just no one tell him the Zed engine is basicly the same as a L20B, just with two extra cylinders - it May (<-Pun intended!) go pop on him at a moments notice! )

Indeed if James is unwilling to post photos on the fantasticly slow Zed, then I believe Alistair will oblige...

Yes, James has bought himself a nice Zed. It does need some work but is in very good daily driving condition, with a bit of rust. To be honest I'm not sure why he didn't buy a Commodore if he wanted an auto family car with s six (his has that nice 6-cylinder drone), or at least a 280ZX but he assures me it will be manual very soon.

I don't have any photos as of yet but I will encourage May to post some at his convenience. But it is blue with a black interior, with the four-spoke 260Z wheels.

And, because IRS is gay, positive camber.

Thankyou Lurch for the kind and thoughtful introduction.

I have indeed purchased a 260Z 2+2.

Here is a photo I took about 5 minutes ago on my phone:

That slight crease in the bonnet is the only panel damage on the whole car, which is a welcome change from my beaten up 200B. Interior is fairly good, though it does have 6 inch speakers in the front doors in a very annoying position which makes it had to wind the windows up and down.

Engine is an L26 with triumph 1 3/4 inch SU's and no emissions gear except a charcoal can. It has a full exhaust with extractors and only one muffler. I believe it has had some head work done as well.

Plans include a manual conversion, and I have already acquired a gearbox and clutch master. I am planning on using the same lightweight flywheel that is currently fitted to the 200B (It was a 260Z flywheel, weighs 4.3 kilos) as it made a fairly large difference. I am also going to respray it, as it needs rust removed and the paint is pretty rough. I am planning on changing the colour to Sunfire Yellow, which is a Chrysler colour.

There is some rust, but thankfully it won't be too hard to remove. None of it is structural. Floorpan and chassis rails are fine.

Don't you realise that yellow is a cursed colour? It's why you had so much trouble with the 200B. Well that and it was crap and you don't know jack about mechanical repairs. But the 260Z has definately raised you a knotch in my book.

You are now at 1...

Christ, you all really are a pack of bitter arseholes, aren't you?

I buy myself something nice, and you all pay out on me. It's not like I wanted to make a thread about this on here in the first place. Mainly because I knew this would happen. Anyway, I don't give two shits what you think, I'm going to build it how I want.

Beautifully said. You now rate at 2. Minus 0.5 for your haircut though. Sunfire Yellow eh? You're not going to change your surname to Cage are you?

How long until you get it all roadworthy and sorted?

Oh and **** is a bit of a strong word for you isn't it? I would have preferred 'Prick" or in true J M fashion 'Nonce"...

Mid - Late February, hopefully. It all depends on how easy it is the get the rust sorted. That's just about the only thing I need to fix for it to be roadworthy.

Silver is nice. The original colour would be nice too. :)
