stiffer suspension is what you will be looking for, with some adjustable parts the get camber/castor etc.

L28 intake manifold and bigger injectors

Higher compression head (shaved N42 or bolt on N47)

Ka24e Throttle body (big mutha fekka)

2.5 inch exhaust, maybe 2.25

some weight reduction (remove spare wheel, seats, sh*t in boot)

new handbrak cable(get done by a pro)then re-tighten once worn in,(you WILL be useing this one a fair bit!

then find a BIG open remote location and practise on shitty tyres, cos you the rubber fryer yo!

oh ant whatch out for the VTEC, might kick in at ANY time!

Watch out for VTEC   L24?? I hope that guy is being sarcastic

OK - did some testing and we found that the CA20E injectors (dark green top, from a Pintara if it makes a difference) flow the same as the L24E injectors. Smashed a CA20E injector in there, and it is running pretty good now.

Yep, great news, green-top CA20E injectors ARE a straight swap for L24E!

Also, random grey-top injectors of unknown origin found on the floor of bob's garage are NOT a swap for L24E injectors!

I said it before and I'll say it again - gotta love that nissan parts interchangeability.

OK - so we would like to get the factory tacho going again. The coil and everything got carried over from the MR with the wiring loom, and the old coil/dropper resistor etc part of the 260z loom is still in the car. I believe it will come down to joining one of the old coil wires to the one of the new coil posts, anyone know off the top of their heads which ones to go for?

And another problem - we reinstalled the motor with the same flywheel and clutch, and now it is shuddering on takeoff. Only does it coming from standstill in first gear.

Any ideas? *edit* Nevermind, sorted (thanks Diomedes).

So, we have fuel, spark, and the transmission is now firmly secured to the motor. We have temp guage, fuel gauge and speedo, so I feel quite confident driving it around.

One thing to note - the water temp sensors on the L24E and L26 appear identical, but the L24E one didn't work - which means either the temp sender on my donor motor was stuffed, or they have a different resistance (impedance?) Anyway, they are physically interchangeable so I bolted my L26 one up and it's all good.

Another question:

What kind of timing advance do people reckon she should be running?

I think we had 10 or 12 degrees in there, and it was, shall we say, underwhelming in the low revs - I think bob bumped it up to 15 or more degrees on the weekend? It's got a bit more pickup now, especially in the low revs (don't have a tacho yet...)

Hey - can anyone tell us what the large sprung screw on the top of the 280zx throttle body does? Turning it seems to adjust the idle, and by the casting it looks like it diverts air around the butterfly, but there is also grub screw style throttle stop.

when the TB is closed (idling) the air goes around the butterfly, it would seem that that screw adjusts the amount of air that passes the TB at idle...idle mixture?

Backing the screw out (ie decompressing the spring) seems to make it idle higher, and screwing it in (compressing the spring) seems to make it idle lower.

I think it was originally backed all the way out - now it's somewhere in the middle.

Not really keen to screw with it further until I know what it's for and where it's meant to be.

early version of IAC (idle air control) at a guess :)

Hey, thanks.

FYI, for anyone thinking of doing this conversion - since the efi conversion, I got 400 km's to 46 litres of fuel, and that's 100% city driving (and also me wringing the poor thing's neck pretty badly).

To say I'm happy with this economy for my daily would be a huge understatement.

I don't think it's delivering it's full potential though, even with the foot to the floor it doesn't seem like it's at WOT, seems like it could keep developing power. Although I don't know what it's revving at w/o the tacho.

Maybe the inlet manifold is only good enough to flow sufficient air for 2.4L worth of displacement? Might have to examine a bigger throttle body and grinding out the intake slightly.

And porting the head, and...

Sounds just like the Idel scew on a honda i reckon it will be just that. Your idel ajustment.
As you know if you let more air past the TB either Around it or Through it the revs will increase so at idle with the TB closed the only way to bring up the idle would be to allow more air to pass around it,
