Hi

I need a permit to drive my newly acquired parts car back to my place from the place of purchase which is only a 5min drive, I would like to know how much the permit costs just for the day?

I don't remember if they're the same price as a 7day permit, if so I may as well just borrow a tandem trailer.

Cheers!

Alex

$37 last time I got one.
Borrow the trailer if it's only 5mins away.

I am currently using a month long permit on my B. It cost $62. I think for a week it was $42. So Lurch's $37 sounds about right. Just make sure you get the right permit as there are a few different ones you can get. Riley.

do these permits allow you to legally drive interstate ?

I'm looking at buying a car from Melbourne, the car is currently rego'd but owner wants to hand in the plates and to get a permit so i can drive it back to NSW. I guess the vehicle would need to be inspected to obtain this permit ?

Nope. You best to take the risk with some other plates and drive it home.
Or tow it

I am sure you could get a permit for vic, and another for NSW. So yr covered for both. Me, being the dogey bro that i am, would just risk it, if i got caught tell the officer that i told vicroads my intention and they said it was fine so long as i was driving it straight home.

I am an Ex vic roads worker and you can drive the vehicle interstate using a "one way permit", you just need to give vicroads the address that you will be leaving from in Victoria and the address that you will be going to in NSW. It must be the most direct route and you are not allowed to have a passenger. I have sold permits in the past for people who have driven their un-registered vehicle from Melbourne to Brisbane without any issues.

Yeah, only the vicroads permit, as long as it specifies that it is a one way permit from A to B.

You cannot use it once your there, you would then have to purchase a NSW one to drive it to get anything done for roadworthy. It only covers you from one address to another.

You can go from Melb to Cairns if you really want..........
