my sunny jim haha

stock standard right now
just put a pretty rad stereo in it all pioneer/kenwood.. (10 inch sub, 2 6s in the front and 2 in the back with tweeters and im just getting a new kenwood(ithink) head unit this weekend) did have dnd 6x9s but had trouble getting em in
wondering what you guys think is the best motor to swap it to
im not sure is ca18 is too much power for my little self haha
my boyfriend is still debating between the two but i wanted to make my own opinion as it is my car
cos i don't really thrash it (just a little every now and then haha)
but i guess my views might change when i get the new motor
also i have to think a bit about how econimical they are on fuel
and how much money ill prob end up spending on it

also suggestions on colour? haha eventually gonna spray it cos the paint on the bonnet is cracking
but really the body is preeeettty neat
putting white walls on it too and as you can see its already got a visor and louvres
(and granny woolen seat covers haha)
i love the old school look : D

thanks guyssss

Jen,
To get cheap insurance in SA the car needs to be legal.
This costs you more up front but will save $$$ & angst later.

You will need better brakes, suspension, rear axle upgrade.
Cost of engineering 2K or so depending.

Would recommend S14,S15DE.
Sunnys are similar to stanza SR install

My suggestion would be an L18 with a Stanza 5 speed & a Stanza rearend. Use a Stanza manual peddle box for the hydraulic clutch, a stanza engine crossmember to fit the engine, & simply use a longer coil lead across from the stock coil location to the distributor. I suggest an L18 because it's shorter than the L20B, but the difference in driving wouldn't be too noticable. A 32/36 DGV weber on a 200B inlet manifold or a set of SSS carb's would go nicely,& a set of extractors made to suit stanza's would fit too. Stanza front struts, a larger master cylinder (7/8's) & the bigger drums with the Stanza rear should be enough of a brake upgrade, but other people have brake upgrades using Stanza struts as a basis. Be sure to fit Nolathane bushes to the rear arms, as otherwise they axle tramp. The front sway bar from a Stanza fits,as does the rear bar that some Stanza's have. A series 2 Bluebird radiator should do, a Sunny Auto gearbox crossmember will allow the Stanza box to bolt straight in & the tailshaft is the same length as a 1200 utes, just with the Stanza front yoke. Keep it Granny spec, get some wider rims made up so you can use the stock hub caps, then you'll have a nice sleeper that'll be easy to drive & quick when you want it to be. Just my opinion, though.
