 Post subject: shortening struts

did a quick search but didnt throw any good info up
looking to shorten some 180b struts to take z31 inserts can anyone tell me the best process?

thanks brad, that sounds like the best way, i have hurd of ppl cutting a bit extra off and welding the thread back on. what type of shops would have the tools to re-thread it? i can cut it with the drop saw no worries

You probably could cut and shut. If I was to do it this way I would add a sleeve over the section to add a bit more strength. Many fitter and turner shops would be able to cut the thread for you. As to what size and pitch it is I can't remember. I'm sure someone here will remember. Then get on the blower and find the best price.

i could just take the large insert nut in that would tell them the thread etc wouldnt it? cheers
