The WA gov has done away with rego stickers, effective 1st of Jan 2010.
Quote:
In an innovative approach to vehicle registration efficiency, the Government will no longer issue registration stickers and discs for light vehicles. Amendments to the governing legislation (Road Traffic Act 1974) have been completed and are effective on 1 January 2010.
Innovative approach to cost cutting. They will save approximately $2 million over the next 4 years.

You don't need to wait till you renew your rego to rip off the sticker. You can remove current stickers after 1/1/2010.

Makes sense, over here a cop car driving past can see if your rego is current or not just driving past, they don't even have to get out of the car.

It kinda makes the sticker redundant.

If they drop the rego accordingly, then I'm all for it coming to NSW. Actually, I'm all for it anway. The bloody things are ugly as.

Per-rego they might save a couple of cents. I doubt they'd bother passing that on.

Nah...I think Id rather have the rego label. At least I'll know if a borrowed / customer / work car is registered. This will put more onus on the driver. The consequences of a smash in an unregistered car can be huge.

Sounds like WA Govt is scratching for good news stories.
