My question is for all those who have put window glasses back in your 1600 over the years..
have you repaired your old glass channels or replaced them?

and either way, details if you could... they always tend to be rusted and swollen with rust, clearing out all the rust, and treating them, then new seal is my first option,
but wondering if anyone has found something from another car that has worked, or if this is the best course of action.
i'm thinking of cleaning, treating and having zinc plated or similar to stop future rust... good idea or not?

it's numbers 7 & 8 in the pic attached.

i have only replaced with them in the past with good used ones.
I find when they swell up enough (especially rear ones) they stop the window from winding fully up and stop a half inch short.
The glass seems to be glued into these parts but i have seen new ones for sale here and there.
Someone else must have done it at some point...

the glass normally just presses in to the rubber seal that sits in the channel... it shouldn't be glued.. but 40 years of aussie heat can do strange things.

i know the old 88-90 hyundai excels had the same channel set up, wondering if i could make them fit... they were all plated and don't rust. and we're cheap as.
otherwise i'll have these cleaned and plated when i do all my hinges, etc... stop the rust, stop the swelling.
