I was only stuffing around man... Just wanted to see what you would say, the bare roof is definatly drift style

The best way to do the roof would be to take the windows out, ive seen some stuck up and riveted along the windscreens but it wont come up anywhere near as good, the windows and the black pinch weld around the doors help keep it all up there and tight

Head linnings are a complete biatch of a job, but if you decide you want it you might have to pull them out again

Simon

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but though it was better than starting another.

My car's being stripped for blasting but the roof lining is mint, is it worth taking it out? Is it hard to reinstall? I heard they never fit the same :/

Thanks!

I hate it when you type a post reply and it fails

Anyway, from experience, you are probably better off getting a new lining.

The couple I've fitted have been glued/stretched into place.

Once glued in the excess vinyl is trimmed off, leaving a nice neat finish around the windscreen and door apertures.

The problem with reusing an old lining is it can be a pr1ck of a job to remove the lining without damaging it, and when you go to glue it back in, there generally isnt enough vinyl to get a decent hold on to stretch/glue it back in. Further, no matter how hard you try, you will probably end up with sags in the old lining.

Another trap is with the hood bows, I've found to get the best fit, you need to put them back in the order/place (think left and right hand side) they were removed, otherwise you'll have fitting troubles as well.

IMLTHO, you're better off shelling out for a replacement lining and saving yourself some potential grief.

Cheers

Jason

theres also a hook that holds the first bow in the correct position, its either in the middle at the front or back(think its back) then when all bows are in and pulled towards the windscreen it all sits up right

In QLD do you need a hoodlining installed to pass roadworthy?
