hi everyone, just wondering if anyones got opinions on what seats I should get for my 1600 project. I can't spend much money, as i don't have much at all. They just need to be fairly comfy, fairly supportive and not require too much modding to the rails.

any info and opinions appreciated

cheers josh

The missus has R32 skyline seats in her 16. They seem to fit great with very little modding needed.

She bought them 8 years ago for $180 the pair....... She just saw them at the wreckers and liked the look, she didn't care if they would be hard to fit etc but she said they were really easy to put in, so it worked out well.

I've now got a set of seats off a 1991 L series Subaru wagon (shutup and stop laughing, they were free ok?!) they seem to be able to be fitted fairly easily, and they're pretty comfy. I need to get some seatcovers though, they're bright blue!

We have a set of Impreza buckets at work. Black and Grey trim. Not sure if they'd be as good as WRX ones though. Plus my boss wants about $250 for the pair which is bloody steep.

dragging this one up... what rear seats have people fitted to their 1600?
i'm looking at a V4 STI rear seat tomorrow to see if it fits, has the black/grey trim which will match the RX8 front seats.

anyone fit something from a newer car or just retrim the old?

Hi there, with my last 1600 i put n13 pulsar seats there is no modifications at all they bolt to the runners then just simply bolt to the floor. Should be able to pick them up from the wreckers cheap if they dont look any good just buy some seat covers untill you can afford to get them covered. :cheers

pulled the seats out of my r31 skyline parts car to see if they fit to the 1600.

all that's needed is to bolt the stock 1600 rails on the r31 seats, then the seats just bolt to the 1600 mounts in the cab.

not a great upgrade but certainly an improvement over the originals, and are good for someone looking for some cheap seats that literally bolt in

it is seriously not that hard to fit any seat (within reason) to your car. find a seat, mark out on the runners and floor where they are to be mounted (keep in mind min and max adjustment), buy some 50mm flat bar, hire a caddy mig welder, weld it together, drill the mount holes and there you go. took me around two hours to fit two STI seats to my previous corolla. cost two hundred for seats (which is standard), around $50 for welder hire and a six pack for the flat bar.

anyway....has anyone got any ideas for rear seats?? would like ideas from seats that fit with minimal chopping of foam, re stitching etc etc.
