I have large disc 240k struts in my 1600, and i need to get some lowered springs for them. Can anyone tell me which springs (part no.brand etc) would suit. Do they run the same springs as a 1600 standard strut ???

Cheers

Shaun

From King Springs site for example: -
72-77 240K lowered front KDRL-83
Same as front for the 810/200B.

510/1600 uses: -
68-72 1600 lowered front KHFL-114

You should fit springs that suit the strut.
e.g. on my 510/1600 I've got 810/200B front struts so I ordered lowered 200B fronts and 510 rears

They are all the same diameter though yeah? I've always used the springs for the particular car regardless of what struts ie 240k struts with 1600 springs in a 1600).... but i am sure you have yr reason Nissanman, after all you are a guru :)

Same here. I'm running custom king springs to suit 1600. IMO you should stick with the spring that suits the car. They will be closer to the correct corner weight then a spring for a heavier car ie 240K. It depends on the inserts as well though.

I'm waiting to hear answers back on this. Wanna get some new kings front and rear and dunno what i should be getting them for 240k or 510. Also with Kings does anyone know how low the lows are? Like 1 inch? Whats good on a bog stock street driven 16? 1in or 2inches?

On my 1600 sedan with 200b struts i have lowered 1600 kingsprings. They were bought for a 1600 strut initially but werent low enough, so then i swapped in some 200b struts using the 1600 king springs.
240k fronts are the same diameter spring as 1600 but as a guess i imagine they would be slightly thicker coils to support the weight of the L24 inline 6.
You'd assume from this then that buying the 240k version springs may not lower a 1600 as much due to a 1600 being slightly lighter than a 240k?.
You really need someone who has pics of this strut/spring combo to help determine the ride height your looking for otherwise it will be a bit of trial and error...

Well thats where im up to currently. The front springs are supposed to be lowered, however the coils look much thicker than i remember from previous 1600's i've owned, so im assuming they are designed for a larger car (240k)

I will try and track down some cheap 1600 springs and see what i come up with, i'll post the difference in ride height between the 2.

You could also look into Lovells springs. For 1600 they do Sport low (DFL-1) and Super lows (DFL-1SL). Just another option

I called Pedders today, they told me that 1600 front springs will fit the 240k strut, they also told me that with their lowered front spring the distance from the bottom of my 15inch wheel to the lip of the guard will be 515mm. Im currently sitting at 555mm  should look much nicer tomorrow night, will let you guys know how it goes.
