Hi all,

I've just realised my drivers side caster rod bush is split. What kind of effect would this have had on my handling?

Also where's the best place to buy a replacement pair, and is it as simple as remove and replace? Or are there any particular issues I should know about?

thanks in advance :)

It may disintegrate and cause 'orrible noises and such.
Those bushes take all the strain when you are under brakes so they need to be fixed ASAP.
You can replace them with the stock rubber type from Nissan Spare Parts or upgrade to polyurethane bushes from Autobarn/Pedders/Sprint etc.
Simple to do once the rod is removed from the lower control arm.
Undo the big sucker nut up front before removing the LCA fasteners.
Do both sides which is 4 bushes.
I've got poly bushes on mine and they have split too
Matter of fact I thought the pic. was of my car

Graeme, thanks for the in depth reply, very much appreciated! I'll be heading down to an auto store this week to buy some replacements.

For the record I only asked what effect it would have on the handling because I'm experiencing some slight veering isssues under accel/deccel that I'm trying to iron out. Apart from the split bush I've also realised my passenger side front wheel bearing is a tad loose, so I'll be nipping that up when I do the bushes.

Don't forget to take measurements of the approximate location of where the nut has been fastened. If you have caster rods threaded further down, then your wheel alighment is easily changed by buggering this up.
