I'm surprised that Wombat hasn't replyed.....He's getting closer with the red four door he is going to club race with. It's got an A14 fitted and can be driven. It's getting some custom extractors built at the moment and then it's off to get the bodywork done and a coat of paint, so it shouldn't be to far off.......There's an A15 ready to be built up as a race engine with twin 40mm webers etc, which will liven it up a little!!

In the photo's they look a little weird but in real life they look ok, the silver coupe should be a cool thing when it's finished, and it will be interesting to see how the rac'n 4 door goes in class A in the local series here.

Yeah Ive been chasing it! Been talking to the guy that has it all and trying to get whats left of it shipped down to Tas. I have found a friendly (to the wallet) trucky that does a run to Qld and back to Tas every 6 to 8 weeks.

The 4 door is coming along nicely to. As Bluerat said Im getting some extractors hand made(cant buy FWD A series) and a 2" system made for the car. The A14 will have the Twin carbs fitted up as well. then the car should be off to get the rust and paint done.

I also have some 13" Yokahama semi slicks to go on the car.

It will be interesting to see how it goes at the local hillclimb. I plan to give it a run at the drags to. Just to see what it will do.

I didnt end up getting the red coupe stuff! Lot of communication but we didnt end up with a result.

Burubado I only have the one set of coupe tail lights and they arent the same as the red coupes. Mine are just round half red and half orange. and theres no way Im gunna let them go. would actually love to have a spare set myself. the other cars all have thin rectangle shaped tail lights.

I will have to post up a bit of the SLOW progress I have made. Extractors are done and fitted along with a full 2" system with a 2' to 3" cannon. this has also now been fitted with a resonator to try and quiet it down abit. Hope the paint will be getting done on it soon. (Been waiting a while for it to be done). Twin carbs have also been fitted but nned to be rejetted and given a good cealn out. I did have a small problem with clearances but ebay soon sorted that out.
Im in the middle of a house sale and move so not much else has been happening with the car.

I will try and add some more pics soon or if your on facebook have a look at the Cherry Bomb Racer page.

Dazzas_Ute: Geez I hope there is that many more out there then getting parts for them wouldnt be a problem (Im sourcing them from England and Japan).
Most of the cars here in Aust are Private Imports only 4 where brought out here for testing and then Datsun decided that the were not suitable for the Australian condtions and market.

TD: They do actually have a racing history mainly in the Japanese home series but some were raced in other countries also. The Coupe was the car used for most of the Circuit racing and the sedan for the rally racing.

was the dog-bone shaped grille inspired from the escort? the pic before the last shows it quite clearly

Hey bud, theres an N10 at the local wreckers if you want to give them a call about the cv's and stuff you wanted, I think it's a complete car, everything is still in the engine bay. Hiway Auto Wreckers in Bundaberg QLD, don't know their number, just google them.
