on the 180b the canister for the brake fluid is divided into two sections. can anybody tell me why.

If there is only one large container for the reservoir, it is divided so that the front and rear hydraulic circuits have separate fluid reserves.
If a leak develops in either circuit the design assures that the remaining working circuit has its own fluid reservoir.
One reservoir makes topping up easier and potentially can hold more hydraulic fluid.

The other option is for the two circuits to have their own small reservoir with a float switch so if there is a leak in either circuit, the BRAKE warning lamp is illuminated.

i dont have two seperate reserviours rather one square one with a divider in the middle.is this a different set up to the one in the diagram or is it the same principle

then i would say that it's a twin circuit master and the divider is just that to separate the front and rear breaks. if you post a pic we can tell you for shore
