G'day All,
I have just purchased a 1971 Datsun 1200 sedan for my son with the intention of slowly restoring it. In the mean time I would like to make the car as safe as possible for him to drive around in. Could someone please advise if the front disc & strut set up in the early Datsun 120y's simply slot into the front of the Datsun 1200. I have tracked down someone in South AustrAlia who may have a set. I assume all I need is the disc brake set up & the strut? Do I need any other parts for the conversion? I am all new to this with very little automotive experience so your feedback would be appreciated as I need to get a road worthy ASAP on the car.

For the early 120y strut you wont need anything else, it will simply bolt straight in.

Once you have it in and think that you may need some more stopping power, you can add a booster from the 120y also.. i would do this anyway.
And if you still want more, you can machine the hub down and slip a S13 silvia rotor on, buy or malke and adaptor bracket and fit the silvia calipers too, this is the most common upgrade for the 120y strut

Pretty sure any 120y will work if you get the lower control arms with the struts.

I had sunny struts in my old 1200. The sunny had slightly longer LCA's so you get an added bonus of a degree or 2 of camber.
