I went for a ride in the back of a mates 1600 for the 1st time a few weeks ago. I have to say I was dissapointed by the level of comfort. (or lack there of) So I'm wondering, what other cars' seats have people made to fit their 510's? I want the people who ride in the back seat of mine to be comfortable while they're fearing for their lives, once it's on the road. So something with a bit of shape to hold the passengers in place would be good.
What's worked for you?

I've seen a Maxima rear seat in a 1600 before but I'm not sure how easily it fits. A later 200B rear seat is quite comfortable in my opinion, I much prefer it over most back seats I've been in. This probably wouldn't be too hard to fit. Or maybe a 910 Bluebird?

Jeff Shoesmith fitted a Sunny coupe rear seat in the original SX-510.

It was a pretty strait forward fit, but good luck finding one these days.

Try looking at small late model cars. The biggest issue will be fitting around the wheel arches.

There is a thred on here or datnet with a moded 200sx rear seat done- with all instructions on the beast way to go about it. Think its about 12+ months old now.

I've seen a U13 bluebird seat fitted. Requires some modding to the rear foam but didn't look like a big job.

i have a mate doing all my upholstry work... all im getting him to is add new modern foam to base and back(so the springs arent up my ass), re shape the foam to a slight bucket (add style and comfort) then re trim in leather. it will come up fine. dont bother with fitting later seats, its not a saturday arvo job by any means.

just find a upholster of a mates' mate to do the above, i think you will be happy with end result

i've had a guy measure up his S14 rear seats for me, he has them for sale, and they look like they will fit well, including between the arches.
have had a look, but lost patience with my search parameters to find the thread you mention.

will continue to look and if it's not a hard swap i'll do it, otherwise i'll look in to some new cushion and the replica vinyl trim from the US.

I've put an s13 base in my 610sss
the back was going to be a bit more difficult though.
I'm retrimming anyway, so decided i'll keep the standard back and when they are both trimmed they will match well.

s13 back:

it is designed to bolt to hinges on the bottom and clip into a look up the top.
the standard seat back hooks on as you slide it down and you screw it in place.

s13 base screwed in place using the standard screw locations.

cost me $1.25 on ebay :) :)
