My son owns a 1971 Datsun 1200 sedan which he uses as an every day car. I am concerned about the safety of the car particularly on wet days having drum brakes all round. Could someone please advise how I could upgrade the brakes to disks, if it is possible, and where I would get parts.

u could get 200b struts from a wrecking yard pretty cheap

Find some factory Datsun 1200 dics brake struts from a 1200 coupe. (Although here in NZ alll 1200's apart from wagons, utes and very very early sedans had discs up front)
Then you can fit S13 non turbo discs to them with only minimal work. He'll need at the minimum a 13" alloy wheel to clear them. But that'll supply all the stopping he'll ever need.
