 Post subject: electrical problems

my 1600 dato has just had some rewiring done, the indicator/hi beam arm inside the car is faulty. when i switch the head lights from low to high beam it shorts out the fuse. any one have the leaver (not sure what you call it ) or know where i could get a whole replacement assembly for it. its a 71 1600 cheers

Is the indicator stalk damaged? Is that what makes you think its faulty?

Did any of the rewiring touch the headlight circuit at all? Are you using original wiring and the original relay? or have you upgraded?
There is a Red/Black wire at the end of the headlight switch, when that is earthed (using OEM equipment) then that will turn your high beams on when the main lights are engaged because that completes the circuit on the relay - causing the changeover. If that is causing the blown fuse then there is something overloading the current draw.

If you want the dip switch/stalk, perhaps posting in the "Wanted" section might help your cause?

i had a auto electrician check it out an he said its faulty and dose not work. all new wiring, relays fuses and fuse boxes to support everything. thanks ill post in wanted
