They look beast man, and then in a lighter car its gonna fly, wanna try and keep the sleeper look though haha ;) thanks very much for that, im fairly confident on a VN v6 motor now, not sure whether to go s1 or s2 though, think ill just take whatever i end up with unless you could suggest better? I can do a VP, VN or VR without too much troubles with engineering :D

Id go series 2 vn or vp motor but any v6 that is still in good nick will do, 99.9% of the commo v6 turbo's are still using the standard ECU, A tuner with kalmaker can retune the orig delco or u can buy the software and tune yourself.

Have a read of this before picking a computer

Just an opinion from looking at Ratsun forums and keeping it nissan.
KA24E turbo would be even easier, better and unique
Stock KA boosted are making minimum 180kws atw with stock internals.

how much would one of them cost and what would be involved in fitting it, i should prob move these questions to a new topic but what engine's would slot straght in to the 720

Found one at wreckers not long ago in crashed ute for 140 bare or 220 complete
had about 92,000kms from new so was a good buy but got taken following week.
Block is similar to L series so mostly bolts up straight in!
Nicer looking unit, revs way better 8000rpm without issues and heaps more room.
There`s a thread here somewhere on an L/Ka24e Turbo in a 1600 pretty awesome!.

$140 - $220 that seems really cheap what state are you in mate as i can only find s13 or s14 motors for around the $2000 mark

Sorry for the lack of replies guys, i have had to part my project car to keep my daily after rolling it, i am now on the lookout for another 720 to receive the commodore motor! Thanks for the advice d, i did look into the ka, sr, ca and fj motors, also the rb20 and rb30, at the end of the day a straight 6 was just too big, the sr, ca and fj way too expensive, and the ka i have yet to find one, but from what i have heard and my dads experience he reckons the ka is a weak motor. And we have 5 or more commodore motors laying around, so it just seemed logical to use what we already have! thankyou for the advice though, and new2datsun, i wont be building for a while now! probably not for another year as i am just about to start university! :)

No stress! but I reckon you should build a Holden One tonner as they are getting rare and are a good looking ute, saw one the other day with a tray, big whitewalls on fat steelies and I got a hard on.
Had the LPG tank in the same Satin black to match all the other sating black bits, very tasteful.

stick with the commo motor dude, there are literally millions of them in aus and they are bloody cheap.
They pull alright in a commodore let alone a little ute!
if you want boost, why not spend a bit more and get a factory supercharged one?
