Yeah i'm coating the inside of everything in rust resistant paint and so on as well, cutting bigger drains might be a good idea too.
I pulled the stupid plastic drains out of either side of the plenum, dunno why they are there apart from to make the drain holes down into the inner guards smaller and easier to clog....
I didn't find much under the paint (apart from previous repairs), it was only where there was bubbles and whatnot that the real rust was showing through.
It was more the backside of the panels that showed, cos in most cases the panels rust from the inside out of course.

More work done!
Dad welded in the rear quarter patches the other day that i had cut down and reshaped from autocables patch panels.
I started grinding back the welds yesterday (only had like half an hour to work on the car), getting close to done now!

I could think of 2 reasons;

1) Comedy value
2) The sylvia would then need a new powerplant ... ummm ... I dunno ... an rb25det maybe?

I am seriously considering it. My rebuilt l20 is pissing me off atm. I think it needs a decent carby but moving house, etc. I am a little poor for a while. If I win the Just car insurance competion I'll bring some goodies home

Honestly ... I don't know :oops: I wasn't listening to the guy when he was telling me. I was originally just buying the datto for its pristine doors and interior. Wasn't till I decided to keep it and had it serviced that I found out it was a rebuild. The more I think abojt it I vaguely remember the guy telling me about a rebuild and the carby bei g on the way out. Meh. Im hunting around for a silvia write off now anyway
