stupid question..how is the engineer going to know your cables are supported every 400mm if you run cables inside and the interior is finished?

also, definitely run inside as opposed to underneath. in my old datto, we were out for a weekend cruise..around 2am..went up a steepish drive way off main road to shopping centre car park.....power cut out....dead. after myself and three other mates went searching through engine bay with mobile phone screens as lights, finally found out that the +ve wire had been ripped off starter as a result of steep drive way.

Because some times they might actually ask you to remove the carpet so they can see if you have supported the cable every 400mm!

oh right. no idea about getting a car engineered. can you print off guide lines from somewhere? obviously different for every state, so maybe RTA for NSW?

There are heaps for NSW. VSB14, that is your engineering guidelines for basically everything. Go to RTA and search for that, and it covers everything that you could do. Its what our new VSCCS scheme is based upon now here in NSW. As long as you follow the guidelines there, you will be right because its now a standard for modifications.
