Next thing is my grille after racking my brain I finally came up with a good idea. I have a JDM SSS grille but it has no chance of fitting with the IC and im not going to cut that up thats for sure. So im using the original grille I chopped previously but making great improvements. I wanted to keep the original fin shape of the 180B grille so from the centre of the grille to where its squared off for the IC would be my angles for the black mesh I got.

I bent all the mesh to shape and came up great. I left little tabs off the back off the grille and clipped the mesh over them its solid on there but ill make up some rubber stoppers or something so it never comes loose. Im using a 1600 grille badge I think it looks way better than the chunky 180B one.

The JDM grille I have is off a 1975 Datsun 610 SSS 1600 it comes with black centre, chrome highlights and the headlights bezel area is silver it looks awsome so to match the black mesh I painted my chopped up grille the same as the JDM one looks great.

I was also worried that my Cusco strut tower brace wouldnt clear the rocker cover after looking at a few friends FJs and how they sat in their bay but where all well en truley clear here!

Just need to clean clay and polish the front cowel panel which is pretty banged up being a country car then the front end will be done. Next focus is the intake side make sure everything is clean tidy and ready for manifold.

Cheers Mick.

Excellent work. Everything looks factory quality.

Love the grille job. The mesh looks even better than factory. I am impressed. Thanks for those detailed photos.

Ive have always been missing an engine oil dipstick and with the help from the guys on the FJ20 facebook page I got the measurements for the dipstick and went searching. My mate had a spare chrome dipstick from his Valliant Charger I cut about 200mm off that and it was a perfect fit!! When I get a chance I will get the full and low marks pressed onto it.

Another thing I was always missing was the spark lead holder on the rocker cover. Sourced one off a N13 pulsar and the braket off a barina. Make them so much neater.

So that basically where im at at the moment. The wiring harness is plugged in now also just need to work out where to mount the coil and those sorts of things want to keep it real neat so ill have some thinking time for that.

Cheers Mick.
