Fellow Ozdatters.

There is a poll being held on the justice website regarding road safety in Victoria. I encourage you all to take the 5 minutes of your time to fill this questionnaire/survey out. Please pass this onto your friends/family/mates etc.

Please read between the lines, as some of the questions are heavily biased such as:
Repeat hoon / drink drivers should face longer bans from driving or owning a car.
This automatically labels hoons and drink drivers in the same light.
There are also some interesting questions on speed cameras and night curfew for P-Platers which are somehow meant to "reduce" the road toll.

I suggest we provide our view as car enthusiasts who are responsible drivers, than the average brain washed, media driven, individual who thinks speed cameras are the answer to their prayers and provide some balance to a potentially one sided situation.

http://myviews.justice.vic.gov.au/

Don't forget the TAC in all of this where our registration bill is going up and up so this 'company' can sponsor your local footy team to try and get a 'positive message' out to all the road users.

done. i dont condone "hooning" which can be a chick on her mobile 5kmh over the limit driving with a coffee in the other hand nowdays, but it should not be treated the same as drink driving. they are both bad but hooning has been misappropriated by police and the press for a long time.

most of these "hoons" are mums and dads with bad driving habits that speed.... to me that not hooning thats speeding and all it does is prop up figures to punish a wider section of the community through oppressive nanny state laws.

Doing donughnut and street draging is bad, and should be punished, speeding at 15kmh is speeding not hooning.... a hoon doing 80kmh in a 40kmh zone is stupid but its also a mistake by someone not paying attenition to misplaced speed zones around schools and busy shopping stips now.... and thats speeding not hooning. unless of course its a modified car then we are all hoons for owning one arent we?

The real worrying thing is when they talk about "targeting" people and giving police more power to inflict harsher punishment. Serious and repeat offenses should be delt with on a case by case basis not just throw some gay blanket law over everyone. It seems stupid that some police lady might see me getting slightly sideways doing a u turn on a 4 lane road at 1 am with no one else around and i get the same "hoon" punishment as someone who feels like practicing for powerskid or getting their reverse entry drifting on.

Also hated the comments about forcing more driver assist type technologies to be a requirement of all new cars. They are just encouraging people to drive like dickheads by essentially telling everyone that its the cars responsibility to avoid and accident rather then the drivers. New cars are sh*t, TAC is sh*t and driver assist bullshit is sh*t and this is why i drive a Datsun

Sums it up nicely I think. If cars are getting safer. Why the hell are we spending more and more on our TAC premium here in VIC? It's so they can sponsor the AFL footy match, and put some stupid multi million dollar ads up on TV. :blahblah:

I note that when filling out the survey that no option for comments or suggestions were provided.

yes didnt want comments because then people could say they dont see hoons and drink drivers the same and when they think laws are going to far. also give there thoughts on some of the crap we all see going on with police and other drivers.

While I understand why we have the TAC my rego is now over $700 most of which is just TAC. I alone have 3 three cars registered god knows what sort of money they are pulling in.
