Another possible combo would be L24 flattops in the L26 block with L26 crank and rods, and top it off with a E88 efi head, this gave me 165-170 psi cylinder pressure and 88kw@5000rpm at the wheels with twin su's, extractors-exhaust, electronic ignition and a 260z cam

Yep, and it was that combo that whipped my N42/N42 L28 combo at the drags, the same one you commented in my coupe thread. It's not always about cubes hey! :hail:

I like that combo guys!

I'm restoring the car with the main object of obtaining "Antique and Classic car" plates. This kind of plate is given to a car that has 75% of originality and it has more of 35 years old. Once the car is restored it must be inspected and if it does'nt achieve the percentage of originality then the aim would be a resto-mod and the EFI would be installed inmediately.

Long time without posting!!

The car is finally at the paint shop and now is time to rebuild the engine, I found 85mm flat pistons and want to use a 260Z cam, but there is no chance here of finding one, so I think I´m gonna make the cam regrinded with the 13001-N3626 Cam specs, check this link out http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm . What do you think guys?...

Also have a question, does anybody know where I can find the doors weatherstrip?

Hi Camilo!

Please post up a picture of the weatherstrip you're looking for, or where it fits and I'll see what I have spare here for you.

What's wrong with the cam you have now in your engine? You won't notice much of a difference between what you have now and that Z car cam. Is the cam internally or externally oiled?

Is your engine your rebuilding an L24 or L26? What is the cylinder head code ie E88, carburettor, single twin or will you megasquirt it exhaust, ignition etc. What are you thinking about what you want to end up with? Also, manual or auto transmission? Tell us everything because it makes it easier to know what we can do with what you have. :)

Talk soon mate.

:cheers

You are right, I gave very little information, there is nothing wrong with the cam I have now, but I want my L26 with the same set up from the 260Z engine. The engine right now has a cam externally oiled, and the head is an E88. The pistons are dished, everything is quite original.

I want to use 85 mm flat pistons, 260Z cam, 2,5'' exhaust pipe with MSA headers, 280ZX dizzy and SU carbies, if I can find them here or at least the manifold and the linkages because I have a pair of SU from my 910SSS, if not, I'm using the old carbie.

Also, I have a brand new 280ZX manual gearbox.

As you can see i´m not looking for a racer engine, just to pull out some hidden horses

A perfect combination for a reliable street engine that will perform very nicely in this application!

Twin carbs are better than the standard 2 barrel. Flat tops will boost your compression ratio nicely for a bit more torque and power.

Don't change a thing!

Go for it

I found a set of flat pistons from a 280ZX, 86 mm. What do you think guys, too much overbore for the L26 block? The l26 bore is 83mm.

Also found the 280zx Dizzy and some new parts of round top SU carbies.

Hi Camilo,

The 'new' L26 in my 330 has a 100 thou overbore which is 2.5mm oversize, equal to 85.5mm bore. That already makes the bore walls very thin. Going that extra 20 thou could be risky. You could ruin the block and have to sleeve it. I wouldn't do it.

Have you got the pistons already? If you have, I might be interested in getting them from you :D

I thought the same, too much overbore.... I don´t have the pistons, I found them but didn't buy them because it seems to me too much pricey, 200 USD for a set of used pistons is way too much.
