due to the pedal not feeling right after installing a new clutch I had a good look at the pedal and saw that the hole that has the pin in it attaching to the clutch M/C is oval'd as in almost 2 pins could fit in the hole!

so I was going to weld a thick washer either side of the hole for the pin to sit snugly in in the original position but wondered if anyone has fixed this in more permanent ways?

I thought about enlarging the hole and press fitting a bearing in it for the pin to go through which might eliminate wearing of the pin and hole? would a bearing be ok with the pressure of a clutch pedal?

Same problem on my '65 Fairlady.
Fortunately, it was minor so I bored out the respective holes and fitted an oversize clevis pin.
Job done :)
A bearing would certainly fix the problem but you would have to make it captive somehow IMO.
Overkill I think.
If your hole is too badly worn [ ] then re-welding may be more appropriate, or a replacement pedal.

I have had this happen on my old 1600.
I rewelded the hole.
It seemed to be holding up better than the original metal. The weld may be harder?

I didn't want to get the welder out but looks like i will now.

the bearing idea was ok but I would of had to drill a big hole for it to slip into.

so I am doing similar to you guys and welding up. but i have just drilled a 10mm hole over the 8mm one and made a 10mm pin and will weld washers either side of the pedal to make a larger wall for the pin to press against.

I welded mine up too. Easy to get the pedal out.
Couple tacks with the mig where it was worn and file back to round again.
Replace the clevis pin if worn and make sure you put plenty of grease back in there.
A squeeky pedal when depressed is a sure sign of that part starting to wear...
