Hi all, for a roadworthy on my car I need reverse gear to work correctly, when I shift the car into reverse it slips like mad, how do I adjust the reverse band? Its an automatic 1600

I'm hoping you have the '71 and up 3N71B JATCO automatic.

Time to replace the ATF anyway. Loosen and drain the pan, remove it and the gasket. Have a new gasket and filter ready. Find the reverse band. Loosen the lock nut and back away several turns. Tighten the 'piston stem bolt' between 8.7-10.8 ft lbs. Back off TWO turns and hold it while tightening lock nut against it to hold it.
