Hello all,

In the 70's versions of the 1600, the centre mounted demister and heater controls have space for two switches, the one on the right switches the fan. The optional one on the left switches a light, but what light does it control please?

Thanks.

A map light I believe.
There is a translucent window set into the dash above the radio position.

Thanks, I had suspected it was for that translucent panel.

Jase, what is the part you are holding beneath your dash, is that AC vents?

...and what about the vacant plug/space on the apposing left hand side to the lighter? what is this for?

Hi Grant

Yes that lower section is an additional vent section. You dont see too many of them around.

I am not sure about the bottom left hand spot... Maybe someone else could answer that one for you..? All of the ones I have have nothing there.

I actually dont mind the look with both of them with the delete option

Like so..

I still dont know what ones to use yet. I am up in the air..

I am also considering putting this in the left spot.

I think you will find that both holes either side of the ash tray are for cig lighter. Universal part for both LH & RH drive.

True. You could have then as chargers and/or for a GPS unit or something.

Good point.

Jase, do you have a link to any photos of your car? (or are you starting with a dash and building up from there :giggle: )

Looks like you are building a stock SSS with all original features?

Hey Grant..

Well you were almost right.. I have been collecting parts for about 9 years to build a nice 1600.. I brought the shell only 3.5 years back.

Give me a week and I will start a new thread with some pictures. I might even get time over the weekend. But currrently there will be only pictures of parts and a shell.. lol
