Thanks for the kind words guys. Its nice to know that the things that I have done, and pieced together over the journey is appreciated by other's. Sometimes idea's work, but most of the time they don't and we are left scratching our heads saying why did I do that for. Money lost and brain wave in disbelief. I personally don't mind any size wheel on a Datto, its still a Datto. Customizing is personal and always about the imagination. So if it feels right, do it. If it don't work out, try again. At least this time you will know what not to do. We all have a degree in hindsight, and not everyone is going to like your modifications, the important thing is that you do. Back in 1998 I removed the L20 engine to get it rebuilt, picked out the metallic blue paint and painted the engine bay. This was going to be the overall colour, but the body remained beige and unfinished. 16 years on, things change and I guess so do we. I still like the metallic blue but I'm sold on the black n blue combo. Azzdat, Alistair. Cheers heaps. I don't know how to cut and paste a previous post, but I really like this statement. (Nice unique car you have). Appropriate and apt.

Thanks Az. I Was asked if I wanted to sell the car the again. And while I was drinking a beer or two down at beach road Friday night, I heard a guy in a foreign accent shout, Dutsun! As he rode passed on his push bike pointing his finger toward my car. And little boy had to be dragged across the road by his mother as they walked passed at a set of lights, I had to laugh as he was walking backwards. My car ain't the fastest thing out there nor will it win best in show anytime soon, but sometimes the smallest of gestures can go a long way.

I was told numbers were up on previous years. Maybe 80 or so cars, not really sure. But the majority of them were Datsun or Nissan. Oh and around 20 bikes..

I broke the Dat a few weeks ago, and after changing out three fuel pumps and a carb rebuild later I'm glad to say it's back up and running. Troubleshooting was a nightmare as oil pissed everywhere after the second pump failed. My plugs fouled and was running so rich that I nearly suffocated myself on the fumes trying to rectify the problem (cheapest high I've ever had) The headache from this lasted around week and I lost patience on more occasions than I care to remember. Just need a dyno on it now and a good wash. Oh and if anyone has a single 45mm Dellorto the want to sell let me know.

Good to see someone else back on the forum. Keep us updated! Glad that the problem solving and trouble shooting is over for now though!

Yeah thanks Ross. All good now as the test drive down to Lorne along the Great Ocean Road over the weekend was more than enough to put the Datto through it's paces
