I'm looking at a new diff but the seller isn't sure on a few details. I have a few photos of it and I'm wondering what kind of details I can get from looking at them.
I think it's a r180 but not sure. Also wondering if it's a lsd? And if I'm correct on guessing the ratio is around the 4.6 mark

yes 4.6
not lsd, just plain open centre.
Looks dirty and might have minor surface rust on gear faces???
Wheres the bearings and housing?
Its probably a front diff (R180) from a 720 4wd and suits clip in axles.
Hard to tell from pic if the half shafts are bolt in or clip-in. You may need to swap the buttons inside the diff centre.
Id get him to clean the gears to check for surface rust pitting before negotiating a price and check those details i mentioned...

No worries will ask the question. Apparently it was in a 1600 previously. Not sure if it's worth the effort or just waiting for the right one to come along that doesn't involve hassle.
The gearing may be a little hight anyway.
Here is a pic of the housing

Thanks for your input and advice.

What are these worth ?
I've got a couple of 4.6:1 R180's out of a 720. Was hoping for a 4.875, but wasn't to be.

This was going with shafts, complete rear end with r31 discs and other random 1600 parts for 400. I'm chasing a r180 but not in any rush just waiting for the right one to come along
