Engine bay and front now with the spatter paint. Definitely looks better than before. We're gonna keep it like this

Few more updates

The original brake lines where all twisted and bent so we decided to get new ones made up which we'll bend to look a bit neater

New Master Cylinder and we got the Brake Booster chromed as well

Other bits

My Dad is one of those guys that can pretty much do anything with a piece of wood, even though he's never worked in the field for a living. Here are the new interior door panels he's created that we'll send off for trimming

[ img ]

I get back home from India next week so hopefully I'll have an update on where we're at with the engine

Another update

Brake lines have come back and we've bent them up so they're good to go but right now she is at the trimmers getting the head trim done. The seats are already sorted as are the interior panels so were hopeful that we'll get it back soon

Motor is still in the process of being built, the builder wasn't happy with the porting job on the head so he sent it back. May not get it back in time for Xmas but we're still in no rush.

Pics

Car on the tow truck to get sent down to the trimmers, my dads neighbour has his own tow truck business and he approached us and offered his services if we ever needed them.

I'll have more pics in due course of the front seats and dash and of course when we put it all back together.

Head trim is now finished and the floor covering is now done too.

Pictures of the seats as they look in the car, not bolted in yet though.

Just a quickie.

Motor is cleaned up and almost completed. Just needs the extractors put on and the carbies and then given a tune. I'll try and get some video of it on the engine dyno in the new year if I get the chance

Merry Xmas everyone :D

Hi Hatchman,

Just caught up on your build up story. Looks awesome.

Hope to see it in the flesh in not too distant future!

I know that bench/assembly room!! Haha
Lou's dyno reads pretty accurate.
They aren't cheap, but by far the best in the area.

Nice work there, interior looks great. Blue callipers would have looked great as well, match the car.

I'm hoping for this to be done by the end of March now all going well. I really want to get it back into the car as then everything has to be hooked up and then re-dyno'd which we'll probably do at APS in Frankston as they do this kind of work

:) Only a can of paint away. I used to have blue callipers on my R32 golf, looked really good.

Okay so just a quickie.

Turns out the Weber 45 DCOE's that I bought in good faith off gumtree were in actual fact stuffed. Bent idle screws and badly corroded internals, not quite the "almost brand new" story I was told by the seller. :x

I'm pissed but what can you do, I bought them about 18 months ago so will have to sell them when I start to work out what is going to sold from this project and kept for the future. Caveat Emptor and all that sh*t ....

The good news however is that the L20B has gotten a fresh set of Weber 45 DCOE's and was going on the engine dyno today. I can't be there to check it out unfortunately but I'm just happy that she's almost done. We should pick it up next week so I should have some pictures up soon :)

Those carbs you bought second hand, do look pretty new in those pics. Wonder what happened to them to corrode the insides, maybe fuel type.

Did you end up using the z22 crank in your engine build?

Let us know what numbers it makes!

Yeah mate I thought they were new too, they were really clean. When I pulled out the jets, chokes and venturis and they seemed really good. Fuel type maybe I'm not sure.

We didn't use the Z22 in the build as I wasn't keen on a stroker motor and the engine builder didn't recommend using it.

Numbers and pics for sure, stay tuned :)
