Hi guys,

My original 69 1600 is almost at completion. It is stock motor, matching numbers, so have stayed on the L16. I have however put twin 40 DCOE's ( just for a little bit more) but i am wondering about exhaust size. I will be running the stock manifold and was thinking 2" or should i go 2 1/4".

Also considering electronic dizzy and the 1/2 steering box brace from datsport as another modern adjustment!

Any help greatly appreciated.

So any advice on 2" or 2 1/4" exhaust?

Electronic dizzy and some nice new fender mirrors have been sourced thanks to 'd', much appreciated!!!

i would go 2 1/4 inch with a good straight through muffler
It wont cost much more and will suit upgrades if you consider them in the future eg l18
L series are fairly quiet engines, i dont think you will have much issue with noise

Electronic distributor is a great upgrade as well as a steering box brace

Good to hear of a near stock build up with minimal improved mods
simple upgrades are 100% more rewarding than going 70-80% full out.

Webers on a stock motor with good exhaust, ignition is a very good upgrade
as long its well tuned and get some extra comp if possible as heads are cheap
to find and mill for extra comp as our fuel choices are often good in most states.

On the other scale check Lampys all out L hybrid build if you havent, its epic.
