hey anyone know why the fluid in my master cylinder doesn't drop when I press the clutch pedal down? or is that normal?

when I press the rod in on the slave cylinder more fluid moves into the Master Cyl but yea, the level doesn't drop when I press the pedal down and there is the same amount of slave rod movement for each action.

oh and this has nothing at all to do with that other woe thread of mine about a clunking driveline that's been going on for years that I keep thinking I found a solution too but haven't... :blahblah:

Internal valving: separates the reservoir fluid from the hydraulic line.

Yeah, as you press the pedal the MC piston goes past the hole that lets in fluid from the reservoir hence not allowing any more flow from the reservoir. It is just the volume of the MC cylinder that is pumped into the slave to get your movement. (if this didn't happen you would pump the fluid into the reservior instead of into the slave cylinder)

-volume of fluid in MC cylinder is reduced by the same amount as the increase in volume in the slave cylinder

However if you push the piston on the slave side, the MC is already fully open (no one has there foot on the clutch) so there is no change in volume of the MC and the fluid your removing from the slave is pushed back into the reservoir via the hole (which is not blocked off because the MC is all the way back)
