Hi ,
Doin some major rust repain on the firewall and was wondering if anyone could tell me what mods are needed to the heater lines when converting to FJ? is it just moving the holes in the firewall outwards to accomidate that larger motor? and if so by how much roughtly??

thanxx

I moved one of the heater hoses so they both exit the fire wall on the drivers side. My advice would be to lower the FJ onto it's mounts, have a look at where you think the most appropriate spot for the hose to come out would be, mark the spot, lift the engine back out and drill it. It's a bit hard to explain without seeing the real thing.

G'day Owey,

Did you have any troubles with water flow to the heater with that method.

Thats what I've got my eye on doing also but the heater hoses squash a bit between the firewall and heater (or did you run your hoses differently.

Cheers

Swanny

I ran my heater hose behind the head then used two"L" sections of copper pipe to reposition it correctly..works well no flow issues (yet?) 8)

Sorry to dig up an old thread......don't want to start a new one if one already exists....
just wondering if anyone has any pics of this they can provide?
I am still tossing up whether to run the heater hoses behind the firewall to exit through the firewall into the engine bay on the same side of the motor, or run one of the hoses between the back of the motor and the firewall?
I've read a few guys say to run it under the dash to avoid any issues with room between the motor and the firewall, which I think is probably a good way to go?

Thx brother.
Looking at my heater core im thinking the neater easier way to go about it is by adding a 90deg bend from the core before it comes through the firewall to run the heater hose across so it comes through the firewall on the same side as the other hose. As mentioned this saves me having to run a hose either over the motor or behind the FJ between that and the firewall.
