Hi all
I have an 4.8:1 open R180 in my 180B SSS that I want to treat to a LSD centre. It's a front diff out of an 80's Pathfinder, or maybe a 720? and it's in good condition, having done very few km over the years.
However, I'm spoiled for choice with all the options available (used to be easy in the 80s when it was just NISMO or nothin'). The car is built as a circuit racer, NA L18 making 140-150ish at the wheels, so no need to go to an R200. I have a welded R160 that's a barrel of laughs, so I'm not afraid of a locking centre (I can't run that on the road, much as I'd like to
), and I have the correct half shafts for the R160 and R180. I'm not interested in drifting (I can tear up $100 bills in a smoke filled environment in the casino if I really feel the need to shred cash), and it's unlikely the car will get a monster SR20 turbo in the near future.
So out of all the options out there (OS Giken, KAAZ, Quaife - and there's a local company doing Torsen diff centres, I think):
What works best?
What's the most reliable?
Does anyone have any experiences with the different options they can share?
Do I ditch the whole idea of buying a centre and go Subaru WRX diff instead?
