What strut? Standard

1600 Strut

From memory, when you pull your rotor off there should be 3 screws, pull them off and your done.

Hrm.. i dont see my rotor coming off unless i can get this backing plate off first. (unless u can tell me how :D )

OK, here's what i've done

i've removed the caliper.
i've removed bit the steering link attaches to

i COULD remove the backing plate if i could get the hub off yes? However, how is the hub removed? the bolts that hold it on are only accessable from the other side, which is covered up by the backing plate?

help me out here!

The hub disc rotor is on the strut correct?

Now in the center of the hub is a little aluminum cap or some other chezzy metal.
Get a screw driver and pry it off. Underneath that is a 22mm nut or something close to it witha cutter pin keeping the nut from comming off.
Straighten out the cutter pin and pull out with some say needle nose pliers. now pull the nut off and slowly in a clean area pull the hub , It will should come off and youll see the outer bearing with a retaining washer hold it in. Make sure bearing dont fall in the gravel. That it.
keep the backing plates on. No need to removed them that I know of. and if you have to remove them there are phillips head.
The inner bearing is with the hub!

PS GET a Manual. ASAP!!!!!!!!!!Its in there.

The other bearing you just go to the parts store and buy. Hopefully Made in Japan .
Dont buy Chinese!!! I have seen Mexican also and USA made ones.

Now this is up to you but I only have changed the outer bearings mostly but most were good. I have had one inner bearing changed and you have to get the race pressed in on the inner one and it needs a seal. a good parts store will know this.
I would just look at them and see if not Cooked(got hot discolored) or feels rough, scorn.

But most times i just titen up the nut till it drags a little then put the cutter pin back in.

Im sure some Datsun people can tell you the rest.

Lobe the sh*t out of it with good grease and install

Why you take it off? replacing the rotor?
Make sure rotor is nice and flat. otherwise do it now.
I once was cheap and was always puliing those things apart. Once I put good and new parts up in there I havent chaged them things in years and thats on both cars!!!

As for manuals We got the English printed Haynes
I also have another english one I never seen before but most Datsuns are the same when it comes to hubs.
If You cant find one just fly me down Ill give you one. I love Austraia.
Never seen so many chicks with BIG Hooters. I waas told cause you guys were upside down thats why!

So now you know you didnt have to remove the strut!! So get new inserts while its out or cut a spring or get aftermarket ones while its out.
