We have a set of Performance alloys fitted to a 240Z and they are 15 x 7 with a 11mm Positive offset. They fit and look great
The tyres used are 215/60 with a section width of ~221mm and they clear the struts OK.
225/50s have a section width of ~233 and I think my boy that is too much for the above mentioned rim size.
The clearance at the front strut will be inadequate.
You will need to have a wheel mounting flange offset even more to the inside of the car so the rubber will clear the strut towers.
Then you run the risk of altering scrub radius and all that technical stuff.
Unless you are buying 2nd hand, a registered tyre dealer should be able to call up the correct wheel/tyre combination required for your application.
