System A
On the crank pulley, the last mark (the most anti-clockwise looking at the front of the engine) is TDC.
Then there are, moving clockwise, marks at 5, 10, 15 & 20 deg. advanced.
System B
If the crank pulley has only one mark, then that is crank TDC and there should be a graduated plate bolted to the front timing cover.
This system works in reverse to that described above.
The most anti-clock mark is 20 Deg adv, then 15, 10 ,5 & 0.
It is just a matter of identifying which system you have and interpreting the marks correctly.
If by some lucky circumstance you have a graduated plate AND several marks on the crank pulley, you will need to decide which system you want to use and remove the offending bits.
