OK, I've currently got the head off my 180BSSS, had oil in coolant. I figure I'm gonna have to get the head crack/warp tested, and had the thought that now would be an opportune time to get some mild head work done.
I'm on a fairly limited budget, so I was after some ideas as to what people think would be the best things to focus on, and where in Melb is a good place to have them done. Say I'm looking at under $400, and no, I don't want to learn how to port, or polish/clean up on the only head I have for this engine...

Things I've thought of:
Valves.
Some mild porting.
Cam, something not too serious.

I've also got a set of twin 40's lying around which I'm planning to use, but engine is otherwise currently a dead stock L18SSS.

I guess I'm really wondering if I can get all this done for the money, and if not, what should I focus on... And where to get it done?

Thanking you all in advance... :D

If it is a SSS head then maybe just buy a 70-74deg cam, hd springs and thicker lash pads oh and you should get an adjustable timing sproket. These mods shouldn't brake the bank. Start with http://www.swmotorsport.com/home.htm
or
www.datsport.com

for the parts. I would not bother porting the head. If you port it you might as well do everything being valves, cc' chambers etc. With your budget I would have the head reco-ed and buy the cam etc. These mods should suit your twin 40s well. Get the car dyno tuned for best results (not cheap). Any one else want to +/-.

OK, thanks for the advice guys.

I'll think cam and reco for now.

Recommendations for a shop to do the work? I'd prefer east Melb, if anyone has experience out this way...?
