hi everyone

Im so glad i found this site. Ive just been given an old nissan/datsun pulsar copue and am in the process of rebuilding it. I found Pulsar Group of Australia website and regestered there to get help and info--it should have occoured to me that people who modify there pulsars; dont do the mods themselfs, they pay someone to do it for them. they dont know anything about cars at all, and honestly they are a bunch of wankers. that should have occoured to me... they do drive pulsars.

then i get on this site!. ahh, such an improvement. you guys know what your talking about. ill be back around with updates on my cars progress. but for now its not worth mentioning.

but i will anyway:
sitting at end of driveway, interior removed, front end removed, all rust cut out, in grey primer, not going anywhere fast.

PS. got the car for free of a friend as unlicenced wreck, and my aim is to not spend ANY money getting it running[apart from buying tools, fuel, oil, gaskets, filters and paint--that will cost enough anyway] .. so if anyone has advice or parts [for sale cheep or free] then i may be interested. no doubt ill have plenty of stupid qusetions for you guys over the next few months.

Yea good luck with the rebuild, have never seen anyone actually work on a N10 before, kind of the ugly ducking in Datsun's fleet.

Put up some pics if you can.

Cheers,

Chris

well, it's a transversely mounted A14 if that helps for a start.

and yes - they have a great little gearbox (if a little long in the throw) and you can swap them for the E15t gearbox with minimal hassle (i think you need to use the N10 driveshafts in the N12 box - i've only ever played with one of these) which are stronger and have LSD options.

hammer it

and welcome 8)

Haa haaa, nahh mate, 120y's were always the uugggllyyy duckling.

Aaron, there is a really nice white 120Y Coupe in main street of Margaret River, I have been down 3 times in the last 7 weeks and it doesn't seem to move, it is always parked just outside Better Electrical.

Wondering wether it was a backpackers, that has now moved on.

Wonder who you would speak to in Margaret river about it??

P.S. Welcome to the site, and goodluck with the N10.

actually yes - some of them did have the E15.

maybe only the imports had the A14? either way - the only one's i've seen have A14s and that's a lot of them.

i found a site that had alot of specs for the n10 series of datsun/nissan--its down at the moment, that site reconed that the later ones with square headlights had e-series engine[e15] and the early ones all had a-series[a15?], im trying to find the site now to link--there aint got to be much diffrence between the two engines, i posted question in another ozdat forum whether a15 manifold will fit on e15, the reply i got said it wont.

yeah the very early N10 is also known as the "310" pulsar which had the A14 (the ones with small square headlights recessed in the grille) and the later models have the E15 (with the cleaner, more common bigger square headlights).

A14 and E15 are of the same heritage (ie an E15et will bolt up to a RWD A14 box) but that's about where it stops.

so, begs the question - which do you have?

the "later" model, square headlights, e15 engine.

UPDATE ON CAR:
i broke my dent puller--i diddnt know they could break that easily...

got the head off and it isnt cracked, but im goling to take it in to get it acid-bathed, skimmed [and hopefuly port-n-polished ] for free at my mates work...

no more progress had been made on the body, thou i sourced some free paint--unfortunatly its only white, and i did want to respray it in its original colour[metalic green]...

i was telling a friend about the car, she was keen to buy it [when restored] till she looked up what n10 pulsars looked like on the net. i told her id paint it pink for her--didnt close the deal...

it would look better pink than white, but i still want it top be metalic green--if anyone has got any FREE green metalic paint in perth i'll take it off your hands.

my aim of getting it on road before new year is not really acheivable now that ive spent this weeks pay on my computer, not my car.

ALSO:
the doors are in a pretty bad state, will the doors of a n10 2door hatch fit on an n10 2 door coupe??? i dont see why thed make diffrent doors, but you never know... does anyone have doors for an n10 hatch in perth???
