A quick question about tappet covers on L series engines. As there are two different styles (one has Nissan and the other has Datsun cast into it)
I believe one is hard to come by. Is this correct? If this is the case, what would a rare one be worth. Also, are they interchangeable (L16 onto L20)

yeah they are rarer, the 'Datsun 1600 OHC' ones. see them go for 100, also seen them go for alot less. depends how much the buyer is willing to pay i guess. seen a few on ebay US too. mine cost me 40bux off a mate, professionally sprayed gloss black. polished the letters off myself. sh*t pic but you get the idea.
oh and yeah theyre interchangeable. mines on an L20b

There are three.

NISSAN OHC (VERY CHEAP)
DATSUN OHC (VERY CHEAP)

The top two are the ones that were fitted to 1600's when they just bolted in replacement jap import engines later on in life.

DATSUN 1600 OHC WITH PLASTIC FILLER CAP (AROUND $100.00)
DATSUN 1600 OHC WITH METAL FILLER CAP (AROUND 150.00)

These are the original Datsun 1600 ones.
Metal cap ones were early 68-69, most of these were thrown away with the original L16's out of Datsun 1600's.

Hense the rarety, and the price tag.

People with L20's love them cause at close inspection, is still looks factory to the police.

I wasn't aware a L motor even had tappets. :roll:
