I have a lil 1988 nissan pintara with a ca20e engine. Recently i have noticed that it just doesnt seem to be running that well on the road. Occasionly it decides to jerk ...... So to put in prospective its like it has no fuel or spark for a second. Now i recently changed the plugs about 15k's ago along with the leads. This fixed the problem up straight away. Its now doing it again. Could there be a problem with my distributor or coil packs? Im no nissan king so im unsure what the problem is. The car seems to have lost a lil power down low aswell.

your problem is it's a CA20....

at first i thought "bands in the transmission are fukced" but it sounds like your coil is starting to break down under load - new plugs and leads will fix the symptoms of early signs, but it will eventually get worse (and has).

before you do anything, take your dizzy cap off and check for corrosion on the terminals. if it does have corrosion and the terminals are pitted after cleaning it, then you'll need a new dizzy cap too.

so, my advice is check your dizzy cap and replace if corroded, then get a new coil and new plugs again. redo your timing with a timing light and you'll be sweet.

Thanks for that proL18. Yes the ca20 isnt a very exciting donk ha ha but its just my daily driver as my other toy is for the weekend. I will have a look under the dizzy and check the terminals. I might also buy some new coils while i am at it. Thanks again.
