Johann,

Nice work. I visited Amsterdam earlier this year, damn nice place! Good work getting it on the road. Please please please mount a cam on the dash if you take it around Nurburgring. :D

Dave

Pulled the car from "Winter storage" again today.
Must have forgotten how much fun the car is.
Starting October last year I decided to build another Volvo track car for the 2007 season. Had the car rolling about a month ago and the car made it's first laps on the N?rburgring already. Downside was that the Datsun had to go in storage on another location where it has been for the past 7-8 months..

It appears the, new at the time, battery is dead. Car started and kept running using a backup batetry but so far it won't run on it's original battery. All other was starting at the turn of the key. :D

Hope to do some more work on the car soon now that it is at home again.

You favoured a Volvo over the Datsun!!!

You shouldn't have told us Aussies that

However there's probably a racing catergory for volvo's but not Datsun's so fair enough

Looks nice a good stance on her too

Beautiful job Johann, well done, one of the best Dattos I've ever seen. Other than a Zed of course :)

Rebuild the dash to suit the RPM's and speeds..

Autometer Tacho and electronic "Metric" Speedo internals build in to the Datsun's gauge box.

Made new face plates using a scanner, Photoshop and a high resolution printer with some fancy photoquality sticker paper. used lexan base.

Speedo uses a 300ZX pulse generator gear assy situated in the same spot in the gearbox where the old cable used to go.

HOLY CRAP.

That is top quality. Looks fantastic.
What size are the Autometer gauges? (100mm?)
Would you be interested in selling some of these to us Australians? (I don't have photochop...or a colour printer of that quality)
OR can you do a write up of how you did it?

The Autometer Speedo basis is the 4489-M
The Tacho basis is 4495

Both are 5" gauges.

I could do a writeup but it would probably end up in a 100 page novel..
Apart from the needed materials for producing the face plates it comes down to a lot of headache, patience and common sense...
