 Post subject: FJ20 Rev limiter

i have just brought a DR30 skyline and was told there have no rev limit. How would i go about putting one on?

Modulate the right foot - else it will see the far side of 8000rpm if you have traction issues....

But seriously, if you fit an MSD or any aftermarket ignition controller, chances are it will have an rpm-limit facility. I've had a look for a stand-alone rev-limiter & there's not much out there....

15.3@91 eh? I reckon that you can do better than that if you make sure everything is fresh. My stock DR30 begins to get wheelspin at the top end of first gear, with LeMans A5 195/60/15 rubber.....

I don't know if you really need a limiter.....the FJ is a bloody strong engine! I heard of one guy revving his to 9,000rpm (standard bottom end) on a regular basis....he didn't report any problems. Having said this..... there is no need to rev it that high - it aint going to make any extra power!

i think a MSD 2 step is going to be the way to go.

i had all sorts of trouble getting it off the line. will be going down again next month so i hope of a better time then.
