its was the look i'm going for too!!
i want 1 of them old skool 12 or 13" 3 spoke racing s/wheel's too....a few 2" gauges....get the cockpit happening!!!
some more recent pics of the engine bay and of the globes painted black!
should be getting white walls painted on these tyres soon too.....then after rego(another week tops) its getting slammed on its guts(2.5" drop)then the windows will be blacked out 5%!!!
also thinking about tinting the red an orange part of the taillights....leave the reverse lamps clear!

I'm definately a fan. I saw one of these in Central Australia on school camp once, and instantly thought how funny it would be to fit a V8 in one. That probably won't happen but they're definately nice.

Hope you can get it back on the road soon. I know what it's like to have a Datsun that won't go!

got it running today!

in the process of the transplant i found that the bloke i bought it off lied out his arse to me......it wasn't original at all!
and the motor in it had done waaay more than 70000ks,
when i got the old 1 out i found an old cut earth strap hanging from it....
and it was also missing the spigot sleeve, hence...the old supposedly original engine used to be in an auto car and came out of an early model 120y or late 1200.

sorted it out now!

Check on the side of the block and the ID plate on the firewall, and it will tell you if it's the opriginal motor. I was sold a 200B SX which was apparently totally original. I found out that the motor wasn't the original one (and completely stuffed) and that SXs didn't come with 5 speeds.....other than that I think it is.

So is this your daily driver at the moment?

it will be again very soon yes!

p.s. do you know exactly where the engine no is on the body of a 120y?
i haven't found it yet.

until i do....just the cut earth strap and missing spigot sleeve is enough clarification for me!!

Oh that's awesome. When I went to buy my current daily driver (1981 RX-7) I looked at lots of Datsuns and there was a white 120Y wagon, apparently a one-owner in immaculate condition at a dealership with no RWC for $4,000. Too far out of my budget though, plus the dealer didn't seem up to negotiation.

I've never dealt with a 120Y, sorry. But on my 200B firewall, there is one ID plate in the middle, sort of above the engine, and another one to the right of that, if you're looking at the engine. Did that make sense? I'm guessing yours will be in a similar spot. Could a fellow 120Y owner perhaps assist also?

Good luck with it.
