What sort of spring tops hats do you have, just plain ones or do they have some sort of bearing in them??

I've never used any sort of adjustable tops but I can imagine the the noises, rattles, bumps, creeks and stiff to turn steering Cheap adjustable strut tops would offer. As the spring hat would just grind on the adjustable top during turning. With nothing to take the steering load.

Does anyone have any feed back with these sort of setups??

I'd probably go for different springs to lower it, or maybe different oem type tops (maybe r31 skyline).
Or failing that pay the extra and get some of datsports adjustable tops with the thrust bearing, they are expensive but I'm sure they would offer the best and quietest operation.

We can drop the front at least 20mm over what you have now.
More with camber tops.
Check the height of your exhaust. We do have to keep the lowest part of the vehicle at minimum 100mm.
Also springs will settle a bit after bedding in.

If you are not concerned with ground clearance we can change this for you.
Check the ride height of Hailests' 1600. With camber tops & the short inserts it was too low for reg.
After modifying the exhaust system he was able to lower the height to our original spec.
All our struts have varying ride heights depending on customers requirements.

thanks guys,

Baz, how do you drop it more? change the springs? I'll try and pop down to Datsport in the new year to talk about it.

I have lowered it more from the pics on the last page by winding the nuts slightly past the coilover thread (still a couple of turns on the locking nut), but it still could go lower. I want to put some bigger rubber on the front too..

The law requires springs to be captive. This is to ensure the suspension work as designed.
If there is slack in the springs when suspension is at full droop longevity and handling is compromised.

With our low height struts we use a shorter insert with a machined spacer to reduce the droop height.
This allows the use of a shorter spring. Thus lowering the suspension and keeping the spring fully captive.

Testing out some camera locations for my GoPro..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOtT77dnnHA

I think these spots will look alright with some hard driving.. see what's going on with the tyres / suspension a bit.
Anyone else got any ideas for good camera spots? Seen some good footage somewhere?

I would struggle with cold beer on tap in the shed. Not much work would get done on the datto.
